Frequently Asked Questions...

1. Who are the People's Democratic Party?

We are a group of ordinary British citizens tired of the main parties' failure to properly engage with real people. Tired of parties dominated by career politicians with little experience of working, or even living, in the real world. Tired of ever decreasing social mobility and ever increasing inequality and domination by a rich and privileged elite. We are tired of the status quo and convinced there has to be a better way.

2. Where do you stand politically?

The PDP are a centre-ground party and believe the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle!  Like most real people we are more interested in policies that work to build a better society rather than old fashioned battles between 'Left' and 'Right'.

3. What do you stand for?

See our Aims and Principles under the 'About Us' page, and our policies on the 'Policy and Proposals' page.

4. How are you run? Are you really democratic?

See our Party Constitution on the 'About' page. It's only about four pages long, very straightforward, and gives our MEMBERS control over policies, leadership, party officers, and candidates for election. We are a very democratic party, of the people, for the people. Hence our name!

5. What's the point in voting for, or joining, a new small party?

We only stay small and new until people start supporting us! If you are happy with the way things are - fine, good for you! But if you are sick and tired of the 'same old, same old' from the Lib-Lab-Con and their career politicians who seem to be from another planet why not try something new (from Planet Earth!)

6. Why not vote Labour instead?

If you are happy with a party under Jeremy Corbyn that seems stuck in the 1970s and wanting to impose socialist policies that simply didn't work back then, then fine support Labour.  Sadly, we fear Corbyn's Labour is so unelectable that he will guarantee 20 years of Tory rule.  The last Labour government ran up huge debts living beyond our means, sparked uncontrolled migration that fuelled Ukip and was dominated by politicians who had only ever been politicians. Corbyn's Labour is no different, just now with added civil war!

7. Why not vote Conservative instead?

If you are happy with tax cuts for the very richest whilst everyone else suffers from spending cuts, plans for more grammar and faith schools that will be divisive without raising standards and opportunities for ALL children, and a return to FOX HUNTING! then fine vote Conservative. Tally-Ho!  If you fear, like us, that Theresa May's Tories are living in the past and governing for the few then why not consider us?

8. Why note vote Liberal Democrats?

Are you kidding?! Seriously though, if you are happy with their cynical lies and empty pledges over tuition fees, their weakness and naivety in coalition government and their demand to return to the European Union when the people have just voted to leave (they might be Liberal but they're not very Democratic!) then fine vote Lib-Dem. In truth, the Lib-Dems are more 'Liberal-Left' than 'centre-ground' and we believe the PDP can appeal to more real people who naturally hold centre-ground views.

9. How about UKIP and the other minor parties?

UKIP have achieved their one and only aim of getting the UK out of the EU. Well done. Now what's the point?  Ukip are as divided as the Labour party between former Tories and more left leaning members and in Diane James have now elected a Thatcherite leader who simply won't appeal to the former Labour voters turned off by Corbyn's Labour.  Other minor parties exist but tend to be single issue parties like Ukip. By contrast we offer a full programme of policies decided by our members for a better, fairer, more democratic Britain. Only the PDP offers a genuine and popular alternative to the millions of voters left deserted on the centre-ground.
